Τα φύλλα έχουν αντισηπτικές, αποχρεμπτικές και σπασμολυτικές ιδιότητες. Το φυτό έχει στοματικές, τονωτικές και καρδιοτονωτικές ιδιότητες ενώ χρησιμοποιείται και κατά των νευραλγιών. Η φασκομηλιά χρησιμοποιείται στη θεραπευτική με τη μορφή αφεψήματος εσωτερικά ως ανθιδρωτικό (ιδιαίτερα κατά του νυχτερινού ιδρώτα φυματικών και νευρασθενών). Το φασκόμηλο με τη μορφή αφεψήματος είναι ιδανικό για την θεραπευτική του στόματος σε περίπτωση τραυματισμών, άφτρων, φαρυγγίτιδας και κατά της ουλίτιδας. Ελαττώνει τα αέρια του εντέρου, είναι ιδιαίτερα διουρητικό και εμμηναγωγό. Ακόμη είναι αιμοστατικό και τοπικό αναισθητικό του δέρματος. Επίσης έχει αντιβιοτική, αντιμυκητική, αντισπασμωδική και υπογλυκαμική δράση

The sage leaves have antiseptic, expectorant and spasmolytic properties. The plant has oral, tonic and cardiotonic properties and it is also used against neuralgia. It is also used in therapeutic herbal remedies, internally, as an antiperspirant (especially against night sweats of tuberculosis and neurasthenia patients). The sage tea is ideal for the treatment of the mouth in case of injuries, aphthae, pharyngitis and gingivitis. It reduces intestinal gases, while it is particularly diuretic and emmenagogue. It is also a haemostatic and local anesthetic for the skin. Moreover, It has antibiotic, antifungal, anticonvulsant and hypoglycemic activity.
